Summer Camp at Wellington Lake
Welcome to Troop 444 Lady Mountaineers information page.
First Presbyterian Church of Littleton, who has sponsored Troop 444 for the past ninety years, will begin its sponsorship of a Girl Troop, also numbered 444, effective February 01, 2019. Using the linked committee model, both of the 444 Troops will provide boys and girls the rich history and traditions that make Troop 444 unique.
Both Troops will meet on Thursdays, 7 pm, at First Presbyterian Church of Littleton, making it easier for families with multiple youth in Scouting. The Boy and Girl Troops will participate in opening and closing ceremonies together; however, patrol activities will be separate.
Following in the existing Boy Troop footsteps, Lady Mountaineers will be youth-lead and utilize the patrol method of youth leading youth through a rich outdoor-oriented program. Regarding scheduling of Troop activities, currently merit badges, monthly camp outs, and summer camp will be shared activities for both Troops. However, Lady Mountaineers will have the ability to schedule separate outings to facilitate team building, if they choose.
Lady Mountaineers will be mentored by Scoutmaster Jessica Kurtz. Several of the Assistant Scoutmasters will be active in both the boy and girl troops. If you’re interested in volunteering, please click on the link below. It takes many adult volunteers to help enable Scouts to have an effective and safe program.
Troop 444’s summer camp is unlike any other Troop summer camp in the area. We offer our own summer camp for 7 days at beautiful Wellington Lake. Our summer camp has all the facilities as a regular Scout camp, however it is literally built by the Scouts and staffed by alumni, parents and volunteers. Several merit badges are taught during camp, rank advancements are worked towards and largely achieved, and Troop elections are held during our final night at camp. We close the week with our Court of Honor, recognizing and celebrating Scouts’ hard work and announcing the newly elected Staff positions.
